Narrative:

After pushing back from gate, we were given instructions to give way to a DC9 and taxi to runway 19 via taxiway J. Approaching the intersection of runway 33, we noted an aircraft on the takeoff roll on runway 15. We stopped the aircraft, and mentioned to ground that an aircraft had just taken off across our nose. He then gave us instructions to hold short of runway 15/33. Shortly thereafter, we were given clearance to cross runway 15/33 and continue to runway 18, where we eventually took off without incident. Supplemental information from acn 440794: after querying ground about what had happened, we were then told to hold short. This was the first time we had been told to hold short of runway 15/33. Solid heads up by captain prevented a possible tragedy.
