Narrative:
Center gave us 220 degree heading. Pilots thought it was FL220 and started descent to FL220. Center called at FL230 to confirm FL240. We told center we were cleared FL220, but we were told the heading should be 220 degrees. Center then cleared us to FL220. Contributing factor: cabin crew member entered cockpit when assigned '220.' this could have been a distraction. Solution: reconfirm all headings and altitudes.

Title: RPTR'S ACFT X WAS GIVEN A HDG WHICH THEY MISTOOK FOR AN ALT CLRNC AND STARTED DOWN.
Narrative: CTR GAVE US 220 DEG HDG. PLTS THOUGHT IT WAS FL220 AND STARTED DSCNT TO FL220. CTR CALLED AT FL230 TO CONFIRM FL240. WE TOLD CTR WE WERE CLRED FL220, BUT WE WERE TOLD THE HDG SHOULD BE 220 DEGS. CTR THEN CLRED US TO FL220. CONTRIBUTING FACTOR: CABIN CREW MEMBER ENTERED COCKPIT WHEN ASSIGNED '220.' THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISTR. SOLUTION: RECONFIRM ALL HDGS AND ALTS.
