Narrative:
A flight attendant noticed fire and smoke in forward galley oven. The fire was extinguished with cabin halon extinguisher. The captain declared an emergency with approach control. We flew directly to the airport and landed without incident. Evacuate/evacuation was not necessary.

Title: PLT RPT, GALLEY FIRE AND SMOKE, EMER LNDG IN EWR.
Narrative: A FLT ATTENDANT NOTICED FIRE AND SMOKE IN FORWARD GALLEY OVEN. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED WITH CABIN HALON EXTINGUISHER. THE CAPT DECLARED AN EMER WITH APCH CTL. WE FLEW DIRECTLY TO THE ARPT AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. EVAC WAS NOT NECESSARY.
