Narrative:
While taxiing in to our ramp area to park, left wing slat made contact with a construction trailer parked off the side of taxiway. We were cleared to taxi to our parking spot via taxiway D1 (wilmington, oh, iln) which had construction going on on both sides of taxiway. The construction area on the right is lighted and the construction area on the left is unlighted and very dark. The construction trailer was painted black and left approximately 37 ft from the taxiway centerline. The taxiway is very narrow with barricades on the left side and light poles and other equipment along the right side. The captain was taxiing the aircraft on the centerline and neither he, nor I, or our jump seater saw the construction trailer as we approached. The captain caught a glimpse of the trailer out of the corner of his eye but it was too late to stop. I never saw the trailer or felt the contact. We taxied to our parking spot and parked. Postflt inspection verified that we did hit the trailer. The visible damage to the aircraft consisted of 2 dents and a scrape in the left wing slat.
