Narrative:
En route from iad to phl. Clearance to wooly intersection. 40 mi out from martinsburg VOR, controller inquired about our routing. I informed controller I showed right on course and read back clearance. He concurred with the clearance and instructed us to pick up a heading of 150 degrees. We did so and I instructed the first officer to take control of the aircraft and I doublechked our navigation. Upon review I found that the first officer had incorrectly read the chart and informed me wooly was 58 mi from martinsburg instead of the correct figure of 38 mi. We intercepted the correct course into bwi VOR on the 150 degree heading as prescribed by bwi approach and continued on to phl without further event. The mistake made by the first officer was partially due to the fold in the chart along with not paying strict attention to full route distance depicted on the chart by being enclosed by a box instead of the intersection distance depicted only by the number of mi. I should have had the intersection set into the navigation system instead of just the DME from martinsburg. Also, complacency was a factor. We have never flown to wooly but have always been given a heading for the next airway or direct bwi. In the future I will doublechk all routing before departure and preset all intxns regardless.

Title: AN ACR FLC FLYING BE1900 NEAR BWI ENTERS WAYPOINT FIX IN ERROR RESULTING IN A TRACK DEV.
Narrative: ENRTE FROM IAD TO PHL. CLRNC TO WOOLY INTXN. 40 MI OUT FROM MARTINSBURG VOR, CTLR INQUIRED ABOUT OUR ROUTING. I INFORMED CTLR I SHOWED RIGHT ON COURSE AND READ BACK CLRNC. HE CONCURRED WITH THE CLRNC AND INSTRUCTED US TO PICK UP A HDG OF 150 DEGS. WE DID SO AND I INSTRUCTED THE FO TO TAKE CTL OF THE ACFT AND I DOUBLECHKED OUR NAV. UPON REVIEW I FOUND THAT THE FO HAD INCORRECTLY READ THE CHART AND INFORMED ME WOOLY WAS 58 MI FROM MARTINSBURG INSTEAD OF THE CORRECT FIGURE OF 38 MI. WE INTERCEPTED THE CORRECT COURSE INTO BWI VOR ON THE 150 DEG HDG AS PRESCRIBED BY BWI APCH AND CONTINUED ON TO PHL WITHOUT FURTHER EVENT. THE MISTAKE MADE BY THE FO WAS PARTIALLY DUE TO THE FOLD IN THE CHART ALONG WITH NOT PAYING STRICT ATTN TO FULL RTE DISTANCE DEPICTED ON THE CHART BY BEING ENCLOSED BY A BOX INSTEAD OF THE INTXN DISTANCE DEPICTED ONLY BY THE NUMBER OF MI. I SHOULD HAVE HAD THE INTXN SET INTO THE NAV SYS INSTEAD OF JUST THE DME FROM MARTINSBURG. ALSO, COMPLACENCY WAS A FACTOR. WE HAVE NEVER FLOWN TO WOOLY BUT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GIVEN A HDG FOR THE NEXT AIRWAY OR DIRECT BWI. IN THE FUTURE I WILL DOUBLECHK ALL ROUTING BEFORE DEP AND PRESET ALL INTXNS REGARDLESS.
