Narrative:
Crew misunderstood ZMA instructions and turned right instead of left to intercept thndr transition on departure/climb out. Center again instructed us to turn left to join thndr transition and remain clear of king air traffic at 16000 ft. We followed ATC instructions and had king air on TCASII. Event was caused by not hearing ATC instructions. Corrective action was taken and increased attention was paid to ATC to avoid similar events.
