Narrative:

I took off from lgb runway 25L, climbed to go through corridor over lax. My CDI centered and I turned to go through corridor. I had not quite reached 4500 ft. At about 4100 ft, I turned and kept climbing to 4500 ft. No traffic. I was well above 3500 ft and sbound traffic. The cloud cover became solid at 2800 ft, over the corridor. But when I looked down, after transiting the corridor, I was somewhat east of my flight line. Then I continued to santa monica VOR. My altitude was 4500 ft and I continued on my course until I was clear of the lax TCA. I'm not sure I violated TCA airspace. In the future, I would be more aggressive in climb out and make sure that I reached 4500 ft before turning. I would ask for flight following until clear of the TCA. I did get duat WX and 1-800-wxbrief before my flight. I expected the ceiling to be broken over the VFR corridor. Instead, it was solid overcast on the south end.

Title: A PVT PLT MAY HAVE VIOLATED THE LAX TCA DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH HIS GND REFS BECAUSE OF AN UNEXPECTED OVCST. HE'S NOT SURE, BECAUSE HE HAD NOT ESTABLISHED RADIO CONTACT WITH ANYONE DURING THIS PORTION OF HIS FLT.

Narrative: I TOOK OFF FROM LGB RWY 25L, CLBED TO GO THROUGH CORRIDOR OVER LAX. MY CDI CTRED AND I TURNED TO GO THROUGH CORRIDOR. I HAD NOT QUITE REACHED 4500 FT. AT ABOUT 4100 FT, I TURNED AND KEPT CLBING TO 4500 FT. NO TFC. I WAS WELL ABOVE 3500 FT AND SBOUND TFC. THE CLOUD COVER BECAME SOLID AT 2800 FT, OVER THE CORRIDOR. BUT WHEN I LOOKED DOWN, AFTER TRANSITING THE CORRIDOR, I WAS SOMEWHAT E OF MY FLT LINE. THEN I CONTINUED TO SANTA MONICA VOR. MY ALT WAS 4500 FT AND I CONTINUED ON MY COURSE UNTIL I WAS CLR OF THE LAX TCA. I'M NOT SURE I VIOLATED TCA AIRSPACE. IN THE FUTURE, I WOULD BE MORE AGGRESSIVE IN CLBOUT AND MAKE SURE THAT I REACHED 4500 FT BEFORE TURNING. I WOULD ASK FOR FLT FOLLOWING UNTIL CLR OF THE TCA. I DID GET DUAT WX AND 1-800-WXBRIEF BEFORE MY FLT. I EXPECTED THE CEILING TO BE BROKEN OVER THE VFR CORRIDOR. INSTEAD, IT WAS SOLID OVCST ON THE S END.
