Narrative:

We were on an IFR flight plan proceeding direct to asg and instructed to report field in sight for visual approach. We reported field in sight and proceeded to enter a right downwind and cleared to contact springdale tower. As we approached the field, asg tower informed us we were 10 mi south in the vicinity of fayetteville airport. We were then vectored back to asg without incident. There are 3 airports with similar runways within 20 mi that can cause confusion. Supplemental information from acn 448864: we called the field in sight and set up for the l-hand downwind. Contacted tower and they asked our position. We said approximately 2 mi northwest on the downwind. They told us to call approach back, that we were approaching fayetteville airport by mistake.
