Narrative:
Reviewed logbook prior to departure and signed last entry with my initials indicating my accomplishment of review. The last entry made by the previous crew was information to maintenance, the idg's worked normally. I and my first officer thought that this entry did not require a balancing entry by maintenance. After arrival at gate at lax and signing the logbook, I called lax maintenance to see if they would look at the information entry to determine if it needed a balancing entry by maintenance. While on my layover I also called B767 technician services and they informed me that normally every numbered entry needs a balancing entry. In the future if I see a numbered entry I will make sure that it has a balancing entry by maintenance.
