Narrative:
On takeoff roll, I spotted a plane taxiing head-on towards me. I proceeded to take off, climb, and turn to the left. I was informed by the tower that I had taken off on taxiway C, not runway 14. I had been cleared into position and hold and had crossed the hold line on the taxiway. Construction at lrd, worn markings, signs not very abundant, and pilot's inattn, contributed to situation.
