Narrative:
Flight plan routing lizad direct shannon. Controller stated this was illegal and should never have been approved. When queried via ACARS, dispatcher agreed, saying routing should have been lizad UG4 shannon. Controller very upset. Got a 30 degree left vector, then cleared direct crk. Controller stated he had cleared us to lnd (lands end) but we neither received nor acknowledged this clearance. To my knowledge, no traffic conflict occurred. Controller stated we were going to enter a danger area.
