Narrative:

A cross country training flight for instrument proficiency with a number of approachs in the sfo bay area. All went well until we executed a planned VFR missed for runway 29 at oak. The tower (local controller who really was orchestrating the numerous arrs and departures exceptionally well) had obviously expected us to land as we (I) failed to insure she knew we were a planned missed. Part of the problem was tight spacing between arrs and departures and I really did not want to shoe-horn a king air into the rollout sequence. In any event we executed a VFR missed, they corrected us to a real missed and we got to revisit aviation/ATC 101 with the clearance delivery folks following our next landing. Lesson relearned: make sure everyone knows of your vast plan lest it turn out to be half that.
