Narrative:
Location: ord. It started with a long day and a long delay in syr. Crew schedule reassigned crew to lga flight XXX. Taxi-in was delayed to gate congestion. Gate control swapped gate and the inbound from syr had maintenance write-ups and a decision time of AC30 local, which then became confused with our follow on flight to lga at gate xx became confused with gate xy. We prepared for pushback and ran the before starting engine checklist to just priors and reviewed the logbook and stowed. The ground personnel, still confused, requested the logbook to clear their confusion and thinking the ground handed it back, I assumed the captain had it and he assumed that I had it. The logbook was not discovered missing in the mix up in ord. The logbook was discovered missing upon the late arrival into lga. In all the confusion with ramp control and ground the checklist run with logbook review accomplished the logbook got dropped the second time thinking the ground personnel had returned it. In the confusion the logbook was missed thinking the book was handed to the captain. Supplemental information from acn 452191: we were now about 20 mins late. We had reviewed the logbook because we had an aircraft with an aircraft pack inoperative and I had verified it with the MEL. Sometime shortly after this a ramp crew chief came in the cockpit and told us he was told by the ramp tower to verify the number as they had been told to remove all the bags. From now on I will keep the logbook on my side of the cockpit and not let it leave after the checklist has been run.

WE HAD REVIEWED THE LOGBOOK BECAUSE WE HAD AN ACFT WITH AN ACFT PACK INOP AND I HAD VERIFIED IT WITH THE MEL. SOMETIME SHORTLY AFTER THIS A RAMP CREW CHIEF CAME IN THE COCKPIT AND TOLD US HE WAS TOLD BY THE RAMP TWR TO VERIFY THE NUMBER AS THEY HAD BEEN TOLD TO REMOVE ALL THE BAGS. FROM NOW ON I WILL KEEP THE LOGBOOK ON MY SIDE OF THE COCKPIT AND NOT LET IT LEAVE AFTER THE CHKLIST HAS BEEN RUN.
