Narrative:
Uncontrolled taxi safety ramp. I was cleared to land runway 23L. Tower instructed right at intersection J, right at taxiway B, contact ground 121.9. I said 'pvd ground, warrior X with you on taxiway B to the northeast ramp ads.' ground instructed 'taxi taxiway B, cleared to ramp -- caution air carrier B757.' at the end of taxiway B, I took a right onto uncontrolled ramp. As I approached the B757, I stopped momentarily, then I proceeded with extreme caution, passing to the left side. My taxi speed was a slow crawl and separation was safe. Ground closed the ramp shortly afterwards and airport operations appeared concerned with my taxiing procedures. At no time was safety in question nor was my clearance misunderstood. Airport operations seemed more concerned with the importance of a football charter than providing wing walkers or even a thumbs up. To add insult to injury, I was admonished for my taxiing by an airport operations employee.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A TAXIING PIPER WARRIOR PVT PLT GETS IN CONFLICT WITH A TAXIING B757 AND A GND PERSON ON AN UNCTLED RAMP AT PVD, RI.
Narrative: UNCTLED TAXI SAFETY RAMP. I WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 23L. TWR INSTRUCTED R AT INTXN J, R AT TXWY B, CONTACT GND 121.9. I SAID 'PVD GND, WARRIOR X WITH YOU ON TXWY B TO THE NE RAMP ADS.' GND INSTRUCTED 'TAXI TXWY B, CLRED TO RAMP -- CAUTION ACR B757.' AT THE END OF TXWY B, I TOOK A R ONTO UNCTLED RAMP. AS I APCHED THE B757, I STOPPED MOMENTARILY, THEN I PROCEEDED WITH EXTREME CAUTION, PASSING TO THE L SIDE. MY TAXI SPD WAS A SLOW CRAWL AND SEPARATION WAS SAFE. GND CLOSED THE RAMP SHORTLY AFTERWARDS AND ARPT OPS APPEARED CONCERNED WITH MY TAXIING PROCS. AT NO TIME WAS SAFETY IN QUESTION NOR WAS MY CLRNC MISUNDERSTOOD. ARPT OPS SEEMED MORE CONCERNED WITH THE IMPORTANCE OF A FOOTBALL CHARTER THAN PROVIDING WING WALKERS OR EVEN A THUMBS UP. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, I WAS ADMONISHED FOR MY TAXIING BY AN ARPT OPS EMPLOYEE.
