Narrative:
Aircraft was late arriving. When aircraft arrived, it was being ferried from rome and had 50000 pounds ballast fuel. Our flight from basel to shannon called for 65000 pounds fuel. We checked the numbers for 65000 pounds and they were good. However, with the ballast fuel and reserves, the airplane had 85000 pounds total on board. Since we had 65000 pounds in our heads, we did not notice the discrepancy. The flight engineer wrote down a landing weight of 435000 pounds, well over the maximum landing weight of 421000 pounds, but did not catch the problem. Both the captain and I reviewed the weight and balance and did not catch it either. We caught the mistake en route and had to descend to 15000 ft and extend the spoilers and gear to burn the excess fuel. I believe contributing factors were rushing to make a slot time and also a little fatigue. We were notified at XA00 that our departure had been moved up several hours reducing our sleep. In the future, I will be much more thorough in checking the weight and balance numbers so that this does not happen again.

Title: DC10 CREW READS WT AND BAL PAPERS BUT DO NOT REGISTER THAT THEY ARE WRONG UNTIL INFLT AND OVERWT FOR LNDG.
Narrative: ACFT WAS LATE ARRIVING. WHEN ACFT ARRIVED, IT WAS BEING FERRIED FROM ROME AND HAD 50000 LBS BALLAST FUEL. OUR FLT FROM BASEL TO SHANNON CALLED FOR 65000 LBS FUEL. WE CHKED THE NUMBERS FOR 65000 LBS AND THEY WERE GOOD. HOWEVER, WITH THE BALLAST FUEL AND RESERVES, THE AIRPLANE HAD 85000 LBS TOTAL ON BOARD. SINCE WE HAD 65000 LBS IN OUR HEADS, WE DID NOT NOTICE THE DISCREPANCY. THE FE WROTE DOWN A LNDG WT OF 435000 LBS, WELL OVER THE MAX LNDG WT OF 421000 LBS, BUT DID NOT CATCH THE PROB. BOTH THE CAPT AND I REVIEWED THE WT AND BAL AND DID NOT CATCH IT EITHER. WE CAUGHT THE MISTAKE ENRTE AND HAD TO DSND TO 15000 FT AND EXTEND THE SPOILERS AND GEAR TO BURN THE EXCESS FUEL. I BELIEVE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE RUSHING TO MAKE A SLOT TIME AND ALSO A LITTLE FATIGUE. WE WERE NOTIFIED AT XA00 THAT OUR DEP HAD BEEN MOVED UP SEVERAL HRS REDUCING OUR SLEEP. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL BE MUCH MORE THOROUGH IN CHKING THE WT AND BAL NUMBERS SO THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
