Narrative:

On oct/xa/99 on my flight from fws to elp, I decided it would be wise to stop and refuel in midland. Upon being handed off to midland approach from ZFW, I requested visual vectors for midland airpark. We were vectored to a heading of 310 degrees to stay away and behind an air carrier X flight, then to 230 degrees and then to 180 degrees. At 3 1/2 mi, we were told to change frequencys and squawk 1200. We rogered the transmission and told him we were going to unicom frequency. We made 2 more radio calls on unicom 122.7 on long final and short final. The next call was crossing an intersecting runway to get to FBO for parking and fuel. Having checked the runway information on airpark, we knew it had a runway 16 which international also has, so I assumed I was at airpark, never having been there before. When we walked into FBO, the lady advised us the tower had called and requested we call them on the radio when we left because we hadn't spoken to them coming in. We then asked the attendant if this was airpark and he said no, it was midland international. We called the tower phone number given to us by the lady at FBO and someone answered 'TRACON.' we advised him of what had happened and he said, 'don't worry about it.' we departed after refueling and spoke to ground and tower for departure without problems.

Narrative: ON OCT/XA/99 ON MY FLT FROM FWS TO ELP, I DECIDED IT WOULD BE WISE TO STOP AND REFUEL IN MIDLAND. UPON BEING HANDED OFF TO MIDLAND APCH FROM ZFW, I REQUESTED VISUAL VECTORS FOR MIDLAND AIRPARK. WE WERE VECTORED TO A HDG OF 310 DEGS TO STAY AWAY AND BEHIND AN ACR X FLT, THEN TO 230 DEGS AND THEN TO 180 DEGS. AT 3 1/2 MI, WE WERE TOLD TO CHANGE FREQS AND SQUAWK 1200. WE ROGERED THE XMISSION AND TOLD HIM WE WERE GOING TO UNICOM FREQ. WE MADE 2 MORE RADIO CALLS ON UNICOM 122.7 ON LONG FINAL AND SHORT FINAL. THE NEXT CALL WAS XING AN INTERSECTING RWY TO GET TO FBO FOR PARKING AND FUEL. HAVING CHKED THE RWY INFO ON AIRPARK, WE KNEW IT HAD A RWY 16 WHICH INTL ALSO HAS, SO I ASSUMED I WAS AT AIRPARK, NEVER HAVING BEEN THERE BEFORE. WHEN WE WALKED INTO FBO, THE LADY ADVISED US THE TWR HAD CALLED AND REQUESTED WE CALL THEM ON THE RADIO WHEN WE LEFT BECAUSE WE HADN'T SPOKEN TO THEM COMING IN. WE THEN ASKED THE ATTENDANT IF THIS WAS AIRPARK AND HE SAID NO, IT WAS MIDLAND INTL. WE CALLED THE TWR PHONE NUMBER GIVEN TO US BY THE LADY AT FBO AND SOMEONE ANSWERED 'TRACON.' WE ADVISED HIM OF WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND HE SAID, 'DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.' WE DEPARTED AFTER REFUELING AND SPOKE TO GND AND TWR FOR DEP WITHOUT PROBS.
