Narrative:
It was the first officer's leg. I was on communication #2 with the company. I switched back to communication #1 and noticed the first officer was not going to make our crossing restr of 10000 ft. I advised ATC. They vectored us to the approach and no problems were encountered. My division of attention was part of the problem along with the first officer's lack of situational awareness.

Title: AN E145 FLC FAILS TO MAKE AN ALT XING RESTR WHILE ON APCH NEAR CLE, OH.
Narrative: IT WAS THE FO'S LEG. I WAS ON COM #2 WITH THE COMPANY. I SWITCHED BACK TO COM #1 AND NOTICED THE FO WAS NOT GOING TO MAKE OUR XING RESTR OF 10000 FT. I ADVISED ATC. THEY VECTORED US TO THE APCH AND NO PROBS WERE ENCOUNTERED. MY DIVISION OF ATTN WAS PART OF THE PROB ALONG WITH THE FO'S LACK OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.
