Narrative:
During climb out from takeoff on 'fly runway heading' before contacting departure, T210 window deice plate departed aircraft and fell to ground. At this time I do not know if it was found or caused damage or injury. It is heavy and could be quite a hazard. This is the first time I had ever affixed this unit to the aircraft. The plate is original equipment on this 1977 210 which I bought this summer. I do not know if the product was defective, or if it had ever actually been used in-flight before. I believe I set the locking pins securely. I believe this might have been prevented by a more thorough pre purchase check of the accessory (it was checked for operation and worked) or a more thorough review of the attachment procedure, and a more thorough check of its security prior to flight.
