Narrative:
A B777 was cleared for takeoff on runway 1R. As soon as it rolled our CL604 was put in position and hold. The B777 rotated, and tower cleared us for takeoff. (Only 1 minute had passed.) we informed the tower we needed full 3 minute separation. At this point the controller became rude and angry. The controller had us taxi to taxiway M and exit.by the time we cleared, the 3 minutes had passed and a G2 behind us was cleared to go. Next came a B757. No sooner had the B757 rotated than we were cleared to takeoff. We again said we needed wake turbulence separation. The controller immediately cancelled our clearance, and had a jetstream 41 or 31 commuter takeoff. Then another B757 was cleared to takeoff. Same thing occurred except we accepted the takeoff clearance. We slowly taxied onto the runway rechecking all switches and configurations. A slow power up and engine check gave us separation and we departed without incident. Secion 7-3-9 of the aim states that a 3 minute interval will be provided when departing behind a heavy or B757, and that the controller may not reduce this. This controller needs to be refreshed on wake turbulence separation and manners.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A CHALLENGER FLC HAD DIFFICULTY REMAINING IN THE TKOF SEQUENCE WITH THE REQUIRED 3 MINUTE WAKE TURB SEPARATION AT SFO.
Narrative: A B777 WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 1R. AS SOON AS IT ROLLED OUR CL604 WAS PUT IN POSITION AND HOLD. THE B777 ROTATED, AND TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF. (ONLY 1 MINUTE HAD PASSED.) WE INFORMED THE TWR WE NEEDED FULL 3 MINUTE SEPARATION. AT THIS POINT THE CTLR BECAME RUDE AND ANGRY. THE CTLR HAD US TAXI TO TXWY M AND EXIT.BY THE TIME WE CLRED, THE 3 MINUTES HAD PASSED AND A G2 BEHIND US WAS CLRED TO GO. NEXT CAME A B757. NO SOONER HAD THE B757 ROTATED THAN WE WERE CLRED TO TKOF. WE AGAIN SAID WE NEEDED WAKE TURB SEPARATION. THE CTLR IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED OUR CLRNC, AND HAD A JETSTREAM 41 OR 31 COMMUTER TKOF. THEN ANOTHER B757 WAS CLRED TO TKOF. SAME THING OCCURRED EXCEPT WE ACCEPTED THE TKOF CLRNC. WE SLOWLY TAXIED ONTO THE RWY RECHECKING ALL SWITCHES AND CONFIGURATIONS. A SLOW PWR UP AND ENG CHECK GAVE US SEPARATION AND WE DEPARTED WITHOUT INCIDENT. SECION 7-3-9 OF THE AIM STATES THAT A 3 MINUTE INTERVAL WILL BE PROVIDED WHEN DEPARTING BEHIND A HEAVY OR B757, AND THAT THE CTLR MAY NOT REDUCE THIS. THIS CTLR NEEDS TO BE REFRESHED ON WAKE TURB SEPARATION AND MANNERS.
