Narrative:
On takeoff roll, my first officer's window slid open to fully open at 110 KTS. I aborted the takeoff at approximately 115-120 KTS. The abort was uneventful, however, 2 tires deflated due to brake heat. Window was closed, but not locked prior to departure. Checklist had been completed, but first officer didn't notice the handle position when he 'gave it a tug' to determine its closure. Maintenance had evidently had the window open during the day, but not locked it after they closed it.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CAPT OF A WDB ABORTED TKOF DUE TO THE FO'S WINDOW OPENING DURING THE TKOF ROLL RESULTING IN 2 MAIN TIRES DEFLATING FROM BRAKE HEAT.
Narrative: ON TKOF ROLL, MY FO'S WINDOW SLID OPEN TO FULLY OPEN AT 110 KTS. I ABORTED THE TKOF AT APPROX 115-120 KTS. THE ABORT WAS UNEVENTFUL, HOWEVER, 2 TIRES DEFLATED DUE TO BRAKE HEAT. WINDOW WAS CLOSED, BUT NOT LOCKED PRIOR TO DEP. CHKLIST HAD BEEN COMPLETED, BUT FO DIDN'T NOTICE THE HANDLE POS WHEN HE 'GAVE IT A TUG' TO DETERMINE ITS CLOSURE. MAINT HAD EVIDENTLY HAD THE WINDOW OPEN DURING THE DAY, BUT NOT LOCKED IT AFTER THEY CLOSED IT.
