Narrative:

On climb out from missed approach/go around, turned to heading 230 degrees, climbing to 2700 ft MSL. As we leveled at 2700 ft, TCASII alerted us to a TA. The 3 of us in the cockpit (myself -- PF in left seat, aircraft commander in right seat, PNF and pilot in crew chief seat) all looked for traffic. We were looking toward the west into a lowering sun. None of us saw traffic. The TA quickly became an RA requiring a 1500 FPM climb. I initiated a climb according to required RA. We notified ATC and leveled at 3700 ft. After the 'clear of conflict,' we returned to assigned heading and altitude. An near midair collision report/incident was initiated and relayed to ATC. This was based upon us not knowing just how close we came to the other aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 457230: target appeared on TCASII screen as co-altitude and within 2 mi range. Never received any type of traffic call from approach facility.

Title: A POSSIBLE NMAC BTWN AN UNIDENTED ACFT AND A MIL DC9 (C-9B) DURING A MISSED APCH FROM AN ILS AT ACT, TX.

Narrative: ON CLBOUT FROM MISSED APCH/GAR, TURNED TO HDG 230 DEGS, CLBING TO 2700 FT MSL. AS WE LEVELED AT 2700 FT, TCASII ALERTED US TO A TA. THE 3 OF US IN THE COCKPIT (MYSELF -- PF IN L SEAT, ACFT COMMANDER IN R SEAT, PNF AND PLT IN CREW CHIEF SEAT) ALL LOOKED FOR TFC. WE WERE LOOKING TOWARD THE W INTO A LOWERING SUN. NONE OF US SAW TFC. THE TA QUICKLY BECAME AN RA REQUIRING A 1500 FPM CLB. I INITIATED A CLB ACCORDING TO REQUIRED RA. WE NOTIFIED ATC AND LEVELED AT 3700 FT. AFTER THE 'CLR OF CONFLICT,' WE RETURNED TO ASSIGNED HDG AND ALT. AN NMAC RPT/INCIDENT WAS INITIATED AND RELAYED TO ATC. THIS WAS BASED UPON US NOT KNOWING JUST HOW CLOSE WE CAME TO THE OTHER ACFT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 457230: TARGET APPEARED ON TCASII SCREEN AS CO-ALT AND WITHIN 2 MI RANGE. NEVER RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF TFC CALL FROM APCH FACILITY.
