Narrative:
On dec/xa/99, air carrier flight xyz landed on runway 9R and was instructed to taxi but hold short of runway 12 by the tower. As we were approaching runway 12, the tower instructed us to cross runway 12 at taxiway T immediately as there was a heavy B747 air carrier B on short final. We were taxiing on taxiway T and I turned to see how far away the B747 was and hurried across the runway onto intersection south, which was straight ahead. Ground had instructed an air carrier learjet to taxi on taxiway Q to runway 9L and as we crossed the runway we stopped short to avoid a conflict. The taxiway T past runway 12 would have required taxi on the runway and additional time and a possible go around for the B747. I feel the best situation would have been for the tower to have waited till the B747 landed before asking us to cross runway 12, giving us more time to maneuver or for ground to have asked air carrier jet to hold short of intersection south so we could have made a hasty exit across the runway. Taxiway T before runway 12 is at an angle and requires one to turn to observe any conflict with landing traffic.

Title: COMMUTER ACFT FLC RPT POTENTIAL CONFLICT WITH LNDG TFC AFTER TWR INSTRUCTS RWY XING AT MIA.
Narrative: ON DEC/XA/99, ACR FLT XYZ LANDED ON RWY 9R AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI BUT HOLD SHORT OF RWY 12 BY THE TWR. AS WE WERE APCHING RWY 12, THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO CROSS RWY 12 AT TXWY T IMMEDIATELY AS THERE WAS A HVY B747 ACR B ON SHORT FINAL. WE WERE TAXIING ON TXWY T AND I TURNED TO SEE HOW FAR AWAY THE B747 WAS AND HURRIED ACROSS THE RWY ONTO INTXN S, WHICH WAS STRAIGHT AHEAD. GND HAD INSTRUCTED AN ACR LEARJET TO TAXI ON TXWY Q TO RWY 9L AND AS WE CROSSED THE RWY WE STOPPED SHORT TO AVOID A CONFLICT. THE TXWY T PAST RWY 12 WOULD HAVE REQUIRED TAXI ON THE RWY AND ADDITIONAL TIME AND A POSSIBLE GAR FOR THE B747. I FEEL THE BEST SIT WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR THE TWR TO HAVE WAITED TILL THE B747 LANDED BEFORE ASKING US TO CROSS RWY 12, GIVING US MORE TIME TO MANEUVER OR FOR GND TO HAVE ASKED ACR JET TO HOLD SHORT OF INTXN S SO WE COULD HAVE MADE A HASTY EXIT ACROSS THE RWY. TXWY T BEFORE RWY 12 IS AT AN ANGLE AND REQUIRES ONE TO TURN TO OBSERVE ANY CONFLICT WITH LNDG TFC.
