Narrative:
At approximately XB00 am, I walked into the air carrier control operations office and the pilot was talking to maintenance control. He said to control 'a mechanic just walked in.' he turned the phone over to me and the controller said the P&D valve drain was leaking at #1 engine. I asked what he wanted me to do. He said to run the engine at idle and look for leaks for about 5 mins, then shut down the engine and look for leaks for about 5 mins. I performed these steps and no leaks were noted. I signed off the logbook stating what I had done. I was never informed that the engine had history of this and I was never sent a maintenance manual.
