Narrative:
After 5 hour delay at gate with passenger, I passed taxiway F hold point on taxiway C. Unlit sign on right side of taxiway says to hold there. I know about this (25 yrs lax experience), but that night was too tired to notice as I followed aircraft in front to full length of runway. Factors: signage unlit, crew fatigued. From now on, I will not remain on aircraft during long maintenance delays.
