Narrative:
Cruise altitude of FL290, on the airway, 4-5 mi north of filmore VOR on the fernando arrival to burbank airport. Never heard the controllers give us FL240. ATC said maybe someone else had answered for us. He put out a radio call. We started our descent to FL240. No conflict or evasive action was taken.
