Narrative:
Flight school I had just started working part time for put an aerial photography session on my schedule. This is not something we normally do. Route was along interstate highway southwest of atl class B airspace right up to but short of where class B reaches surface. Altitude was to be 500 ft AGL. Although we remained clear of class B, I contacted approach for clearance just to make sure I was covered. ATC refused. So I was looking out the winnow constantly making sure we remained clear of class B airspace and also to keep photographer over his desired route. This was a series of straight runs at 180 degree turn, then repeat. I was maintaining 500 ft AGL at this time but a couple of times I scanned the altimeter and found myself at 400 ft AGL. I immediately climbed. To my knowledge this had no consequence other than my being unhappy with my own personal performance. Most of my flight time is in larger aircraft and IFR. It has been so many yrs since I had done any ground reference maneuvers -- I was rusty.

Title: PLT OF A C152 FAILED TO MAINTAIN THE MSA WHEN CONDUCTING A PHOTO FLT NEAR AND UNDER CLASS B AIRSPACE.
Narrative: FLT SCHOOL I HAD JUST STARTED WORKING PART TIME FOR PUT AN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION ON MY SCHEDULE. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING WE NORMALLY DO. RTE WAS ALONG INTERSTATE HWY SW OF ATL CLASS B AIRSPACE RIGHT UP TO BUT SHORT OF WHERE CLASS B REACHES SURFACE. ALT WAS TO BE 500 FT AGL. ALTHOUGH WE REMAINED CLR OF CLASS B, I CONTACTED APCH FOR CLRNC JUST TO MAKE SURE I WAS COVERED. ATC REFUSED. SO I WAS LOOKING OUT THE WINNOW CONSTANTLY MAKING SURE WE REMAINED CLR OF CLASS B AIRSPACE AND ALSO TO KEEP PHOTOGRAPHER OVER HIS DESIRED RTE. THIS WAS A SERIES OF STRAIGHT RUNS AT 180 DEG TURN, THEN REPEAT. I WAS MAINTAINING 500 FT AGL AT THIS TIME BUT A COUPLE OF TIMES I SCANNED THE ALTIMETER AND FOUND MYSELF AT 400 FT AGL. I IMMEDIATELY CLBED. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS HAD NO CONSEQUENCE OTHER THAN MY BEING UNHAPPY WITH MY OWN PERSONAL PERFORMANCE. MOST OF MY FLT TIME IS IN LARGER ACFT AND IFR. IT HAS BEEN SO MANY YRS SINCE I HAD DONE ANY GND REF MANEUVERS -- I WAS RUSTY.
