Narrative:
As owner of C310, I am responsible for the airworthiness of my airplane. I had asked my mechanic several times to make sure that the heater decay test, required by an airworthiness directive, was not overdue and the exact status of that requirement, he said ok. Then on dec/xa/99, I asked again if that had been taken care of. He said, 'oh my, I'll go check it now.' he did, and we were over the allowed 100 hours. In fact, I checked logbooks and found we were past required time by 22 hours. I immediately scheduled the work and had it done before further use of this airplane. I do understand the reason for this inspection, and will make sure this does not happen again.

Title: A C310 OWNER NOTES THAT HIS MECH HAS NOT PERFORMED THE AIRWORTHINESS STANDARDS CHK ON HIS ACFT'S HEATER. THE ACFT EXCEEDED TIME LIMIT BY 22 HRS.
Narrative: AS OWNER OF C310, I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE AIRWORTHINESS OF MY AIRPLANE. I HAD ASKED MY MECH SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE SURE THAT THE HEATER DECAY TEST, REQUIRED BY AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE, WAS NOT OVERDUE AND THE EXACT STATUS OF THAT REQUIREMENT, HE SAID OK. THEN ON DEC/XA/99, I ASKED AGAIN IF THAT HAD BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. HE SAID, 'OH MY, I'LL GO CHK IT NOW.' HE DID, AND WE WERE OVER THE ALLOWED 100 HRS. IN FACT, I CHKED LOGBOOKS AND FOUND WE WERE PAST REQUIRED TIME BY 22 HRS. I IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED THE WORK AND HAD IT DONE BEFORE FURTHER USE OF THIS AIRPLANE. I DO UNDERSTAND THE REASON FOR THIS INSPECTION, AND WILL MAKE SURE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
