Narrative:
Nassau approach control cleared me to 3000 ft. After already maintaining 3000 ft, nassau again cleared me to 3000 ft. I told them I was at 3000 ft. The airspeed assigned by nassau approach was 160 KTS. Nassau then assigned me to 2000 ft. I read back '2000 ft, air carrier xyz.' at approximately 2300 ft, nassau approach assigned 'air carrier xyz, maintain 3000 ft.' I told her 'I was assigned 2000 ft, what do you want?' she came back 'climb and maintain 3000 ft.' I immediately climbed to 3000 ft. There was an aztec at 2000 ft in the area. My heading at the time was 150 degrees. I was being vectored for a left downwind to runway 32 at nassau (mynn). I spoke to the controller via telephone and she said she didn't remember the call sign given in the instruction and that she might have got my call sign confused with the aztec. Also, after being assigned an airspeed of 160 KTS, she later assigned 'air carrier xyz, reduce speed to 170 KTS.' I told her ' I was assigned 160 KTS, what speed do you want....' she said 'maintain your present speed.' I responded with 'maintaining 160 KTS, air carrier xyz,' on another note, the hold short markings on taxiway a for runway 14 and runway 32 are painted backwards! (Nassau airport mynn). There are no hold short markings on taxiway B for runway 27 and runway 9 at nassau.

Title: SA 227 AT MYNA SUBJECTED TO LOSS OF SEPARATION AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS BY NASSAU APCH CTLR.
Narrative: NASSAU APCH CTL CLRED ME TO 3000 FT. AFTER ALREADY MAINTAINING 3000 FT, NASSAU AGAIN CLRED ME TO 3000 FT. I TOLD THEM I WAS AT 3000 FT. THE AIRSPD ASSIGNED BY NASSAU APCH WAS 160 KTS. NASSAU THEN ASSIGNED ME TO 2000 FT. I READ BACK '2000 FT, ACR XYZ.' AT APPROX 2300 FT, NASSAU APCH ASSIGNED 'ACR XYZ, MAINTAIN 3000 FT.' I TOLD HER 'I WAS ASSIGNED 2000 FT, WHAT DO YOU WANT?' SHE CAME BACK 'CLB AND MAINTAIN 3000 FT.' I IMMEDIATELY CLBED TO 3000 FT. THERE WAS AN AZTEC AT 2000 FT IN THE AREA. MY HDG AT THE TIME WAS 150 DEGS. I WAS BEING VECTORED FOR A L DOWNWIND TO RWY 32 AT NASSAU (MYNN). I SPOKE TO THE CTLR VIA TELEPHONE AND SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T REMEMBER THE CALL SIGN GIVEN IN THE INSTRUCTION AND THAT SHE MIGHT HAVE GOT MY CALL SIGN CONFUSED WITH THE AZTEC. ALSO, AFTER BEING ASSIGNED AN AIRSPD OF 160 KTS, SHE LATER ASSIGNED 'ACR XYZ, REDUCE SPD TO 170 KTS.' I TOLD HER ' I WAS ASSIGNED 160 KTS, WHAT SPD DO YOU WANT....' SHE SAID 'MAINTAIN YOUR PRESENT SPD.' I RESPONDED WITH 'MAINTAINING 160 KTS, ACR XYZ,' ON ANOTHER NOTE, THE HOLD SHORT MARKINGS ON TXWY A FOR RWY 14 AND RWY 32 ARE PAINTED BACKWARDS! (NASSAU ARPT MYNN). THERE ARE NO HOLD SHORT MARKINGS ON TXWY B FOR RWY 27 AND RWY 9 AT NASSAU.
