Narrative:
Received scavenge oil pump assembly from our base in abc, us, for repairs. Housing was chafing, needing remove and replace. Assigned the work to a mechanic. It was the first time for him performing this task. He removed the components and replaced the housing, reusing internal components per pratt & whitney manual. I was instructing and inspecting the task. Sent scavenge oil pump assembly to abc, us, to be installed on spare engine serial #wxwx. During the next engine change in abc, us, the pump assembly was removed from the engine that came off aircraft xyz. The removed engine was sent to ZZZ, us, for repairs. The oil pump pack was still in the box in which it was shipped to abc, us. A mechanic in ZZZ, us, engine shop was asked to install the pump assembly on the engine.
