Narrative:
After a heading assigned by departure of 70 degrees, he handed us off to ZLA. ATC asked if we were direct bld VOR. Captain replied we were assigned a 070 degree heading from previous controller. Lax cleared us direct bld VOR, pgs, flight plan route. Captain responded to same, handed off to second controller (ZLA). Approximately 2 mi east of bld, ATC asked if we were direct to kaddy intersection, bld VOR 108 degree radial at 28 DME. Captain responded that we were previously cleared bld, pgs, flight plan. ZLA then responded 'turn right 15 degrees.' we were then on a vector for approximately 1-2 mins, then cleared direct GPS VOR, flight plan. In my opinion, the deviation from the SID was no more than 8 degrees at 2 mi east of bld VOR. There seems to have been a communication error. We replied to the lax departure clearance and proceeded as directed, from the first handoff to lax departure. There were no conflicts on departure from this event.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B737-800 FLC HAS A PROB WITH THE CLRNCS AS ISSUED BY 2 ZLA CTLRS DURING THEIR SID DEP FROM LAS, NV.
Narrative: AFTER A HDG ASSIGNED BY DEP OF 70 DEGS, HE HANDED US OFF TO ZLA. ATC ASKED IF WE WERE DIRECT BLD VOR. CAPT REPLIED WE WERE ASSIGNED A 070 DEG HDG FROM PREVIOUS CTLR. LAX CLRED US DIRECT BLD VOR, PGS, FLT PLAN RTE. CAPT RESPONDED TO SAME, HANDED OFF TO SECOND CTLR (ZLA). APPROX 2 MI E OF BLD, ATC ASKED IF WE WERE DIRECT TO KADDY INTXN, BLD VOR 108 DEG RADIAL AT 28 DME. CAPT RESPONDED THAT WE WERE PREVIOUSLY CLRED BLD, PGS, FLT PLAN. ZLA THEN RESPONDED 'TURN R 15 DEGS.' WE WERE THEN ON A VECTOR FOR APPROX 1-2 MINS, THEN CLRED DIRECT GPS VOR, FLT PLAN. IN MY OPINION, THE DEV FROM THE SID WAS NO MORE THAN 8 DEGS AT 2 MI E OF BLD VOR. THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A COM ERROR. WE REPLIED TO THE LAX DEP CLRNC AND PROCEEDED AS DIRECTED, FROM THE FIRST HDOF TO LAX DEP. THERE WERE NO CONFLICTS ON DEP FROM THIS EVENT.
