Narrative:

Was on a visual approach into pfn. Tyndall gave advisories of aircraft but not the C172. They cleared us for the visual. They didn't hand us off to pfn tower till very late in chain of events. Meanwhile, pfn had a C172 inbound, low. We did not see it. Further, we were not advised till too late. TCASII alerted us, we took evasive action, contacted pfn on our own accord. Pfn cleared us to land ahead of slower traffic. Resolution: get a quicker handoff from tyndall. Look for traffic more diligently than what we were.

Narrative: WAS ON A VISUAL APCH INTO PFN. TYNDALL GAVE ADVISORIES OF ACFT BUT NOT THE C172. THEY CLRED US FOR THE VISUAL. THEY DIDN'T HAND US OFF TO PFN TWR TILL VERY LATE IN CHAIN OF EVENTS. MEANWHILE, PFN HAD A C172 INBOUND, LOW. WE DID NOT SEE IT. FURTHER, WE WERE NOT ADVISED TILL TOO LATE. TCASII ALERTED US, WE TOOK EVASIVE ACTION, CONTACTED PFN ON OUR OWN ACCORD. PFN CLRED US TO LAND AHEAD OF SLOWER TFC. RESOLUTION: GET A QUICKER HDOF FROM TYNDALL. LOOK FOR TFC MORE DILIGENTLY THAN WHAT WE WERE.
