Narrative:

Due to some distraction during descent through FL180, altimeter setting on checklist was overlooked. Consequently, the pilot side altimeter was not set to appropriate pressure. After leveloff at 5000 ft MSL, approach control queried our indicated altitude. I replied that we were indicating 5000 ft. Upon second query by ATC, we discovered pilot side altimeter still set to 29.92. We corrected the altimeter.

Title: CREW FAILS TO RESET ALTIMETERS DSNDING THROUGH FL180 DURING ARR AT BUF.

Narrative: DUE TO SOME DISTR DURING DSCNT THROUGH FL180, ALTIMETER SETTING ON CHKLIST WAS OVERLOOKED. CONSEQUENTLY, THE PLT SIDE ALTIMETER WAS NOT SET TO APPROPRIATE PRESSURE. AFTER LEVELOFF AT 5000 FT MSL, APCH CTL QUERIED OUR INDICATED ALT. I REPLIED THAT WE WERE INDICATING 5000 FT. UPON SECOND QUERY BY ATC, WE DISCOVERED PLT SIDE ALTIMETER STILL SET TO 29.92. WE CORRECTED THE ALTIMETER.
