Narrative:

On departure from buf, got #3 engine fire warning, confirmed by engine indications. Secured engine in accordance with checklists and SOP's declared an emergency. Returned to buf for an uneventful landing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: crew was flying a B727-200 aircraft. This was a ferry flight from buf to bos. The fire warning was a result of a blown 13TH stage pneumatic air duct. The reporter commented on how well. The crew worked together. All checklist items were accomplished in an unrushed and timely manner.
