Narrative:
I was instructing my student in crosswind lndgs on runway 4. The student is new to the area and the airplane, so I was busy explaining procedures and techniques. Tower cleared us for a touch-and-go, #2. We had the airplane in sight on approach to runway 35. We timed our approach to runway 4 to arrive after the traffic landing runway 35. On short final to runway 4, tower instructed us to go around and stated we had been cleared for runway 35, not runway 4. Obviously we did not hear the clearance to runway 35, nor did we read back runway 35. My student read back 'cleared for touch-and-go, #2.' I was distraction with my student and did not hear runway 35 -- I heard runway 4. To prevent this, I need to listen better and read back runway clrncs with the runway numbers. To my knowledge, we did not cause another airplane to deviate or encroach on separation. I did not listen carefully.

WE HAD THE AIRPLANE IN SIGHT ON APCH TO RWY 35. WE TIMED OUR APCH TO RWY 4 TO ARRIVE AFTER THE TFC LNDG RWY 35. ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY 4, TWR INSTRUCTED US TO GO AROUND AND STATED WE HAD BEEN CLRED FOR RWY 35, NOT RWY 4. OBVIOUSLY WE DID NOT HEAR THE CLRNC TO RWY 35, NOR DID WE READ BACK RWY 35. I DID NOT LISTEN CAREFULLY.
