Narrative:
After departing trm VFR, we tried to pick up our IFR clearance from palm springs approach using frequencys on our commercial chart, as did two jets that departed immediately after us. We had difficulty getting palm springs to answer us. When we did finally reach them, they told us we were not in their airspace, gave us a squawk and told us to contact ZLA. The aircraft behind us received the same treatment. After finally getting ZLA to talk to us, they told us to fly heading of 040 degrees to stay out of restricted area and to stand by. Aircraft behind us had trouble getting ZLA to respond. We finally received our clearance after many minutes and many miles. Suggest that trm have a remote outlet installed so that palm springs may be contacted on the ground for clearance due to volume of IFR jet traffic utilizing trm.

Title: FALCON 10 UNABLE TO PICK UP IFR CLRNC FROM PALM SPRINGS APCH UPSET WHILE ZLA PROCESSES REQUEST LEAVING TRM.
Narrative: AFTER DEPARTING TRM VFR, WE TRIED TO PICK UP OUR IFR CLRNC FROM PALM SPRINGS APCH USING FREQS ON OUR COMMERCIAL CHART, AS DID TWO JETS THAT DEPARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER US. WE HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING PALM SPRINGS TO ANSWER US. WHEN WE DID FINALLY REACH THEM, THEY TOLD US WE WERE NOT IN THEIR AIRSPACE, GAVE US A SQUAWK AND TOLD US TO CONTACT ZLA. THE ACFT BEHIND US RECEIVED THE SAME TREATMENT. AFTER FINALLY GETTING ZLA TO TALK TO US, THEY TOLD US TO FLY HDG OF 040 DEGS TO STAY OUT OF RESTRICTED AREA AND TO STAND BY. ACFT BEHIND US HAD TROUBLE GETTING ZLA TO RESPOND. WE FINALLY RECEIVED OUR CLRNC AFTER MANY MINUTES AND MANY MILES. SUGGEST THAT TRM HAVE A REMOTE OUTLET INSTALLED SO THAT PALM SPRINGS MAY BE CONTACTED ON THE GND FOR CLRNC DUE TO VOLUME OF IFR JET TFC UTILIZING TRM.
