Narrative:
As I was boarding flight xx to act as first officer from denver to chicago, I noticed a woman on the ramp side of the jetway door. Since I was late arriving at the aircraft due to traffic and congestion in the airport, I felt rushed to complete my preflight checks. I opened the door to let her in while I did my exterior walkaround. I asked her where her identify badge was, and she said it was on her coat in the aircraft. Since the flight attendants were just boarding, too, I thought she was with them, and I rushed on to complete my checks. Since passenger were boarding when I got back, I never saw her again. I should not have let the pressure of an on-time departure and my usually trusting nature keep me from challenging her and preventing a possible security breech.
