Narrative:
I was flying at 4500 ft MSL. I started to lose RPM's and airspeed with altitude. Things I did were carburetor heat, throttle, fuel, selector from tank to tank at 2000 ft. I saw a private runway and landed. So I could impact I landed with 40 degree flaps, bounced hard, brakes on. Ran to the end, wings hit a tree. No one injured. No property damage, just aircraft damage. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: pilot was on the delivery flight with a newly purchased aircraft. As the engine lost power the carburetor heat was applied fully. This had no effect. Pilot spotted a small 1100 ft private field. On landing pilot overran the end and hit a tree with the right wingtip. The wing is repairable. Maintenance also found the cable that actuates the carburetor heat lever was loose so no heat was applied when the carburetor heat was applied.

Title: C182 PLT HAD FORCED LNDG INTO AN 1100 FT PVT FIELD.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING AT 4500 FT MSL. I STARTED TO LOSE RPM'S AND AIRSPD WITH ALT. THINGS I DID WERE CARB HEAT, THROTTLE, FUEL, SELECTOR FROM TANK TO TANK AT 2000 FT. I SAW A PVT RWY AND LANDED. SO I COULD IMPACT I LANDED WITH 40 DEG FLAPS, BOUNCED HARD, BRAKES ON. RAN TO THE END, WINGS HIT A TREE. NO ONE INJURED. NO PROPERTY DAMAGE, JUST ACFT DAMAGE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: PLT WAS ON THE DELIVERY FLT WITH A NEWLY PURCHASED ACFT. AS THE ENG LOST PWR THE CARB HEAT WAS APPLIED FULLY. THIS HAD NO EFFECT. PLT SPOTTED A SMALL 1100 FT PVT FIELD. ON LNDG PLT OVERRAN THE END AND HIT A TREE WITH THE R WINGTIP. THE WING IS REPAIRABLE. MAINT ALSO FOUND THE CABLE THAT ACTUATES THE CARB HEAT LEVER WAS LOOSE SO NO HEAT WAS APPLIED WHEN THE CARB HEAT WAS APPLIED.
