Narrative:
Aircraft was performing far 25 icing tests in intermittent maximum conditions. Prior to flight, the spin chute had been tested and then set in a dearmed state. During the icing test procedure, static was heard in the headsets, and a dull thump was felt. It was assumed the engine had experienced a compressor stall so the mission was terminated. Postflt inspection revealed that the spin chute motor had fired and departed the aircraft.
