Narrative:
I was given a shaft and was told that it was bent and needed to be straightened. There was no paperwork with the shaft and there wasn't a scrap tag on the shaft. At this point I was told that the paperwork would be coming at a later time. I then proceeded to get all the tools and machinery reading to do the job. I then asked if this shaft was going back onto an airplane, and did not receive an adequate answer. I finished the setup, then I asked for the paperwork again and was told that I would not be here tonight. Before proceeding, I asked for an engineering authority/authorized telling me what to do before proceeding. I am concerned that this part may be put back on an aircraft.
