Narrative:
On climb out after cleanup, the aircraft lost all 'a' hydraulic system quantity and pressure. We notified ATC, declared an emergency, and maneuvered in VMC southeast of den. All applicable checklists were run. Dispatch and maintenance were brought up to speed. The gear and flaps were lowered in accordance with loss of 'a' system checklists. The aircraft was successfully landed and stopped on runway 35R at den. The emergency was canceled and the aircraft was towed to the gate.

Title: A CLBING B727-200 HAS A LOSS OF 'A' SYS HYD FLUID AND PRESSURE. ACFT RETURNS TO DEN AFTER ADVISING COMPANY OF PROB AND WORKING CHKLISTS, 2 MI S OF DEN, CO.
Narrative: ON CLBOUT AFTER CLEANUP, THE ACFT LOST ALL 'A' HYD SYS QUANTITY AND PRESSURE. WE NOTIFIED ATC, DECLARED AN EMER, AND MANEUVERED IN VMC SE OF DEN. ALL APPLICABLE CHKLISTS WERE RUN. DISPATCH AND MAINT WERE BROUGHT UP TO SPD. THE GEAR AND FLAPS WERE LOWERED IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOSS OF 'A' SYS CHKLISTS. THE ACFT WAS SUCCESSFULLY LANDED AND STOPPED ON RWY 35R AT DEN. THE EMER WAS CANCELED AND THE ACFT WAS TOWED TO THE GATE.
