Narrative:
On takeoff just at the point of rotation, we were hit by jet blast from a DC10 just starting to taxi. Departure runway was runway 12. DC10 was holding on northeast side of runways 12/30 on taxiway Y, with tail pointing toward runways 12/30. Jet blast was moderate requiring immediate flight control correction. Apparently the DC10 had landed on runway 9R and crossed runways 12/30 at taxiway Y and then held on other side for unknown reason. Tower and ground should coordination takeoffs on runway 12 with traffic crossing runways 12/30 and then holding when clear. Same incident would most likely resulted in an accident for small aircraft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B737 ENCOUNTERS JET BLAST DURING TKOF ROTATION AT MIA, FL, CAUSED BY A DC10 HOLDING JUST CLR OF RWY.
Narrative: ON TKOF JUST AT THE POINT OF ROTATION, WE WERE HIT BY JET BLAST FROM A DC10 JUST STARTING TO TAXI. DEP RWY WAS RWY 12. DC10 WAS HOLDING ON NE SIDE OF RWYS 12/30 ON TXWY Y, WITH TAIL POINTING TOWARD RWYS 12/30. JET BLAST WAS MODERATE REQUIRING IMMEDIATE FLT CTL CORRECTION. APPARENTLY THE DC10 HAD LANDED ON RWY 9R AND CROSSED RWYS 12/30 AT TXWY Y AND THEN HELD ON OTHER SIDE FOR UNKNOWN REASON. TWR AND GND SHOULD COORD TKOFS ON RWY 12 WITH TFC XING RWYS 12/30 AND THEN HOLDING WHEN CLR. SAME INCIDENT WOULD MOST LIKELY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT FOR SMALL ACFT.
