Narrative:

While working 2 arrival position, I had to resequence an MD80 off of the downwind for final vector. In the meantime, I had an E145 descending to 5000 ft on a downwind for final vector and I noticed the E145 was not descending fast enough, so I told the E145 to hurry descent to 5000 ft. I then turned the MD80 and gave him traffic. The second aircraft did come within less than 3 mi and 1000 ft.
