Attention taken in another area of sector for holding aircraft. Conflict alert went off too late to do something. Supplemental information from acn 468385: DC9 climbing at less than 500 FPM, not in time to top MD80 at FL310. DC9 should have advised the controller of a reduced climb rate.

Narrative: ATTN TAKEN IN ANOTHER AREA OF SECTOR FOR HOLDING ACFT. CONFLICT ALERT WENT OFF TOO LATE TO DO SOMETHING. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 468385: DC9 CLBING AT LESS THAN 500 FPM, NOT IN TIME TO TOP MD80 AT FL310. DC9 SHOULD HAVE ADVISED THE CTLR OF A REDUCED CLB RATE.
