Narrative:
The aircraft was ferried into ZZZ from dfw with only the pilot and copilot on board with the L1 door escape slide safety pin installed. There was no item in the logbook or elsewhere indicating that the safety pin was installed. I did not detect the L1 door escape slide safety pin being installed, and flag hanging down on forward side of slide, underneath slide cover, when I checked the slide bottle pressure gauge through the inspection window on the slide cover as part of the layover service. Safety pin was found installed by FAA inspector.
