Narrative:
New radio not working correctly. Became distraction and entered pattern for runway 21 instead of runway 3. Corrected after turn to downwind by tower and uneventful landing. No conflict with other traffic. Pilot should have paid more attention to instructions but problem with radio interfered with concentration.

Title: RADIO PROB DISTR LEADS TO A TFC PATTERN ENTRY FOR THE WRONG RWY AT SDL, AZ.
Narrative: NEW RADIO NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. BECAME DISTR AND ENTERED PATTERN FOR RWY 21 INSTEAD OF RWY 3. CORRECTED AFTER TURN TO DOWNWIND BY TWR AND UNEVENTFUL LNDG. NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER TFC. PLT SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE ATTN TO INSTRUCTIONS BUT PROB WITH RADIO INTERFERED WITH CONCENTRATION.
