Narrative:
During preflight inspection, damage to right wing leading edge access panel 611DB was found. Dent approximately 6 inches in diameter approximately 1/8 inch depth, no damage to skin (ie, cracks or gauges). Tap test indicated delamination. Per srm, I mistook a statement that allowable damage was allowed to 10% of the area of the total panel. I released the aircraft for flight. Upon closer investigation of srm, it limited the damage to 2 inches in diameter. Air carrier maintenance coordination was notified.
