Narrative:
When we raised the gear handle to 'up' after takeoff, the left red gear light illuminated and all other gear lights went 'out.' in other words, the left main gear showed unsafe. We complied with our aircraft emergency book procedures and got no satisfactory resolution to the problem. We then asked ATC for vectors to a safe area for fuel dump, then dumped approximately 6000 pounds of fuel and made an uneventful approach and landing back into tucson airport.
