Narrative:
Held left orbit 091 degree course to annie. Inbound cleared direct annie the 'annie 3A' arrival. We were at 9000 ft. I asked the captain what altitude we were cleared to. The STAR profile goes to 2500 ft. I told her I was unsure of our altitude clearance. Passing annie we started descent. I asked the captain to call leaving 9000 ft. She said we didn't have to. At 8500 ft the controller asked us why we were descending. I started a climb to 9000 ft. Soon after we were vectored and given altitudes to descend to.
