Narrative:
1 pack operation. Aircraft load limited by structural weight. I told the dispatcher we needed enough fuel to allow us to lose the remaining pack, descend to 10000 ft, and fly to the nearest suitable airport from any point along our route of flight. The decision was made to delay the flight and take another aircraft.

Title: A B727-200 DEFERRED WITH 1 AIR CONDITIONING PACK INOP IS FLT PLANNED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH MEL REQUIREMENTS.
Narrative: 1 PACK OP. ACFT LOAD LIMITED BY STRUCTURAL WT. I TOLD THE DISPATCHER WE NEEDED ENOUGH FUEL TO ALLOW US TO LOSE THE REMAINING PACK, DSND TO 10000 FT, AND FLY TO THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT FROM ANY POINT ALONG OUR RTE OF FLT. THE DECISION WAS MADE TO DELAY THE FLT AND TAKE ANOTHER ACFT.
