Narrative:
Approaching konzl on the PDZ3 arrival into lax we were told to descend via the arrival and to expect runway 25L. After passing konzl and descending out of 17000 ft (we selected 10000 ft in the window per company operation procedures) we were given a clearance direct to mitts and to expect runway 24R. We continued the descent (now to 10000 ft) since the other restrs had been deleted. At approximately 15500 ft approach control told us to descend to 14000 ft. My understanding is that it is normal procedure if taken off an arrival to delete the restrs. I just think that it would avoid confusion to issue the altitude with the new clearance.

Title: ROUTING WAS CHANGED AFTER BEING CLRED VIA A STAR TO LAX. ALT CLRNC WAS CHANGED AT A LATER TIME. CONFUSION WAS THE RESULT.
Narrative: APCHING KONZL ON THE PDZ3 ARR INTO LAX WE WERE TOLD TO DSND VIA THE ARR AND TO EXPECT RWY 25L. AFTER PASSING KONZL AND DSNDING OUT OF 17000 FT (WE SELECTED 10000 FT IN THE WINDOW PER COMPANY OP PROCS) WE WERE GIVEN A CLRNC DIRECT TO MITTS AND TO EXPECT RWY 24R. WE CONTINUED THE DSCNT (NOW TO 10000 FT) SINCE THE OTHER RESTRS HAD BEEN DELETED. AT APPROX 15500 FT APCH CTL TOLD US TO DSND TO 14000 FT. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IT IS NORMAL PROC IF TAKEN OFF AN ARR TO DELETE THE RESTRS. I JUST THINK THAT IT WOULD AVOID CONFUSION TO ISSUE THE ALT WITH THE NEW CLRNC.
